Rachel Warren

Rachel Warren was born and raised in South Florida. She graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2017 from the University of Central Florida. She currently lives in Atlanta, GA where she is a MFA candidate in Photography at the Ernest G. Welch School of Art and Design at Georgia State University. Her work focuses on finding self-identity linked to human relationships, perceived authenticity, and collective memory. Warren is driven by emotion and repetition of everyday attempts to understand the same thing, creating an unknowable history that the viewer engages in and produces their own narrative away from the truth. She works with reclaimed inherited items, archival photos, and writing to explore familial ties and loss, capturing fleeting tangible moments that are gestures or feelings, rather than conversation. She explores the idea that photos can reflect a sentimentality that allows the past to be turned into an object of regard.

Chip Moody

Chip Moody was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his BFA at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2011 and is best known for his black-and-white photographs featuring portraits and interior scenes of Black life. Most recently Moody was an Arts and Culture Leader of Color inaugural fellow with Americans For the Arts (2019-2020).

Often when images of Black people are created they are presented as characters or stereotypes across the broad social spectrum of morality. He seeks to convey Black humanity (outside of that spectrum) in spaces that have persisted through Black autonomy and agency creating images that resonate with the multitude of Black experience. Showcasing specifically Black love and Black culture on its own terms he admires, values, and interrogates his own culture challenging preconceived notions of Blackness. Decentralizing the nature of the “Black” experience is a goal of his work and pre-existing narratives serve as the starting points for his image making process.

Emily M. Getsay

(Em) is a queer and non-binary, conceptual artist, activist, and curator. As a conceptual artist, their pieces stem from ideas that allow an expansion of oneself through a relatable and textual lens. Each lens gestates complications of triggers, misconceptions, and desires. Triggers that never disappear but only increase. Misconceptions that are never-ending. Desires that are never attainable. It is with the exploration of body and mind that we develop meaning for these portions of ourselves. As humans, we are always accepting new information and trying to comprehend how we can apply it to our lives while moving through time and space. Em attempts to bring those ideas and knowledge to the surface to become transferable across cultures and society.
